The Trading Store is reopening on Saturday 4th July.

We will be opening the Trading Store on Saturdays only, starting on
Saturday 4th July, between 10.00 and 11.00 am.

You will find the process a bit different, as everything else is these days, so we have picked out the key messages below:

Late Summer Show and Autumn talks programme

We have decided that it will be best to cancel the Late Summer Show which was due to take place on 12th September 2020. While restrictions are being eased at the moment , it’s not possible to predict what the situation will be and we have to consider the safety of exhibitors, judges and those who might come to see the Show – there’s also the possibility that we wouldn’t be able to offer refreshments!

We will be contacting the two speakers we have booked, for October and November, and will let you know whether it seems possible for the talks to go ahead.

The Society operates a small trading store, for members, with a stock of regularly used gardening products such as composts, fertilisers, pest control products, flower pots and a small range of garden tools. Larger gardening items may be ordered. In the spring, discounted purchase of seeds and seed potatoes is available.

The Trading Store is next to the Purley Memorial Hall in Glebe Road and is open from 10:00 to 11:00 every Saturday and Sunday during the months February to October and additionally on Wednesday evenings between 5:00pm and 6:30pm, from April to June. Please feel free to look in any time we are open.

For those with an hour to spare we are always looking for volunteers to help us man (or woman) the Trading Store. If you can spare an hour on a Saturday or Sunday to help in the Trading Store please contact Margaret, our Membership Secretary, on 0118 9417247.

Membership of the Society costs £3.00 a year, you can join at the Trading Store during opening hours, and your membership card may be used to get discounts at various gardening suppliers including Englefield Garden Centre and Collins Hardware in Pangbourne.  Members may also borrow the Society's RHS card which provides entry for one member and one adult guest to any of the RHS gardens at a 30% reduction on normal adult entry rate.

The schedule of talks, visits and events arranged by Purley Horticultural Society can be found on our Meetings page.
